PCA 2023: Powstanie

Last year Powstanie had its own booth, though it historically had space in the RoMa Craft Tobac booth. This year, the gang is back together.

As mentioned in the RoMA Craft post, it was not a rift that caused the two companies to have separate booths. It was the fact that their attendance was a late-game decision, meaning only single booth spaces were available.

While I didn’t see a ton of cigars displayed in the booth, Powstanie did have two of their three upcoming releases, and I got to talk to Greg and Mike Szczepankiewicz about them.

Powstanie Connecticut

First is the Powstanie Connecticut, the company’s first new regular release line since they debuted in 2015. It will launch with four available sizes, though it was noted that a corona gorda will be coming sometime in the first quarter of 2024.

Wojtek War Bear

The Wojtek line is getting a new release, this time in the corona gorda size. It will be debuting at Lake Country Cigars in Delafield, Wis., and shipping to all other retailers in September.

The SBC is returning with the same corona gorda size but will feature a tweaked — though not disclosed — blend.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month.
