Matilde Cigar Co. is once again back in the Sutliff Tobacco booth, as one of the several premium cigar companies that Sutliff distributes. While that generally means a standard black bookshelf, Matilde has a bit bigger space that is on an outward-facing corner of the booth, giving them access to a bit more traffic in the hallways.

On those shelves, brand owner Enrique Seijas has the vast majority of the company’s portfolio on display, while also keeping with his tradition of releasing a new size for one of the two Limited Exposure lines.

There is also a good amount of focus being placed on the Serena Maduro, which came out earlier this year. As far as traffic, I seemed to catch Seijas during a quick lull, but in hanging around the Sutliff booth talking to other companies, I saw a steady stream of retailers and others in the industry stopping by to talk to Seijas and get their orders in for the coming months.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
