The Limited Exposure No. 1 from Matilde Cigar Co. will be getting its second size at next month’s PCA Convention & Trade Show, as the company has announced that it will be adding a 6 x 42 lonsdale vitola.

Other than the size, the company has not yet released any details about this new vitola, including pricing or when it will ship.

The Matilde Limited Exposure No.1 debuted in the summer of 2021 before shipping that September. It debuted in a 6 x 50 toro vitola and uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Dominican binder and filler, which includes HVA, Piloto Cubano, and corojo varietals. The line is produced at Tabacalera La Isla, the Dominican factory owned by Hostos Fernández Quesada, formerly of Quesada Cigars.

The company will also be bringing back the toro for another release, though production numbers, pricing and a shipping date have not yet been announced. The original release was priced at $10.50 per cigar, offered in 20-count boxes and limited to 250 boxes, for a total run of 5,000 cigars.

In April 2022, the company released the Limited Exposure No.2, which uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper along with a binder and filler combination sourced from the Dominican Republic. That blend also debuted in a 6 x 50 toro vitola.

According to Enrique Seijas, co-owner of Matilde Cigar Co., the Limited Exposure series will eventually grow to three blends, with new sizes being added to each in future releases that will be centered around the cigar industry’s two main trade shows, the PCA Convention & Trade Show that happens in the summer, and the Total Product Expo (TPE), formerly the Tobacco Plus Expo, which happens in the winter.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
