I have been covering the RoMa Craft Tobac booth for as many years as I can remember, which also houses the Pospiech Inc. distributed brands. Historically, these brands are produced at Fábrica de Tabacos NicaSueño S.A., tying them to the RoMa Craft brand and thus explaining the shared booth space.

Fosforo is distributed by Pospiech Inc., but not rolled at NicaSueño. Owner Jeff Mouttet was excited, yet nervous, to be exhibiting at his first PCA Convention and Trade Show, but seemed to be a welcomed and embraced addition to the booth.

This was my first time meeting Mouttet, who owns and runs Riverside Cigar Shop and Lounge in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Initially, the Fosforo brand was intended to be a house blend for Riverside. When Mouttet attended RoMa Craft Tobac’s Weaselfest event last year, he gave out samples to other friends in the industry, who then came back and asked if they were available to carry in their stores. Mouttet then secured distribution with Pospiech and started selling the Fosforo brand nationwide, being carried in nearly 30 retail locations only six months later.

Fosforo Limitada

The first limited release by Fosforo is also the first time the brand is working with a factory other than Garmendia Cigars Co. by Jose Palacios. For the Limitada, Mouttet teamed up with Art Garcia to release these 15,000 cigars rolled at the Tabacalera Segovias de Estelí factory.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
