PCA 2023: Dissim

While I don’t quite remember how I got introduced to the Dissim brand, I do remember it was via Kickstarter, and I remember that it was notable for being a lighter that you could ignite while it was upside-down. While it could be used to light a cigar, it was seemingly designed and marketed to be used for numerous other things, from candles to campfires.

However, the company has found traction in the cigar industry and has begun expanding its portfolio to include several options that draw from its original design, as well as some new designs that would look at home in any number of cigar accessory companies’ booths this year.

The two designs are so new, in fact, that prototypes had just arrived from the factory, neither of them had working internals yet, and neither of them had name. Another one of the company’s popular budget-friendly lines also got some new color options that make seeing the remaining butane much easier.

Dissim Prototype 1 

This lighter, which is similar to the Slim, is being billed as a refined single jet torch with better flame adjustment than the original models offered. It will be available in both gold and silver plated color options.

Dissim Prototype 2

This is a tabletop quad-flame torch lighter that is ignited by pressing down on the plate that surrounds the flame. Additionally, the cap doubles as an ashtray and cigar rest. It was shown off in brushed silver but is slated to be available in a gunmetal color.

Dissim Slim – Transparent Colors

The Dissim Slim is getting some new color options: clear, red, blue, bronze and smoke,  and all of them are transparent so that you can see how much butane is in the tank. The Slim came out at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show and lives up to its name, measuring 85 x 30 x 14 mm (3.34 x 1.18 x 0.55 inches), while keeping the signature Dissim open space so it can be clipped onto a backpack, travel humidor, or any number of things.
