The portfolio of Dissim, which became known as a Kickstarter-funded soft flame lighter, is set to grow this summer as the company will release new variations on its core lighter as well as a new punch cutter.
Both lighters share the same characteristics and features of the original Dissim lighter, which seeks to optimize inverted lighting capabilities and maximize ergonomics through the lighter’s finger hole, according to Dan Hoff, coo of VPR Brands, which owns the Dissim brand. “With the success of our original Dissim Inverted lighter we wanted to make quality lighters that encapsulate the same look and functionality but are also more affordable for different price points,” Hoff told halfwheel.
The Dissim Slim measures 85 x 30 x 14 mm (3.34 x 1.18 x 0.55 inches), and features an upper casing made of cast metal, while the body is a rubberized lacquer texture that provides stability in the hand as well a soft touch. It is priced at $9.99 and available in five colors.
The Dissim Sport is a smaller version of the original lighter that is designed to comfortably fit in the third pocket of a pair of jeans, measuring 80 x 35 x 12 mm (3.15 x 1.38 x 0.47 inches). Its casing is a premium cast metal, while the reservoir is now semitransparent to make checking the butane level and refilling the lighter easy. It is priced at $29.99 and will be available in six colors.
Both the Dissim Slim and Dissim Sport will be available in soft flame and torch options, the latter of which will have a cover for the flame that will open as part of the ignition process. Both are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers at the end of July.
The company will also be releasing the Bullseye, a patent-pending, bullet shaped punch cutter that is part of the company’s Hammer Tactical series.
The Bullseye is notable for offering a center awl that, when extended, serves to center the cutter on the cap of the cigar, helping reduce the change of an off-center cut. It also creates a slightly deeper center hole, which the company says allows for better air flow.
The cutter is operated by twisting the body to raise the cutter’s 11 mm diameter blade and awl that extends 2 mm beyond the blade. The blade can be raised to two heights for further customization of the cut.
The Bullseye measures 60 mm (2.36 inches) long and has a diameter of just under 15 mm (0.59 inches) at the bottom of the base, where the mechanism extends and retracts. It is priced at $35 and is available in three colors: gunmetal, satin silver, and polished gold, each coming with a lifetime warranty.
