Quesada Cigars has long been a staple at the PCAConvention & Trade Show, but this year the company is celebrating a very special occasion, specifically the 75th birthday of Quesada’s family patriarch.

In addition, Quesada is showing off two new versions of previous releases: a Connecticut-wrapped incarnation of its Casa Magna line and the Oktoberfest 2022.

The Quesada booth not only seems significantly larger this year compared to the one the company had in 2021, but it also features a much better layout.  There are also new cases to hold each of the new cigars being released, including a much larger and nicer display for the box of Manolo Quesada 75th Anniversary at the far end of the booth.

Casa Magna Connecticut

Although there has been more than six different versions of the Casa Magna line released over the years, this is the first time the line has been covered in a Connecticut wrapper. Unlike most of the Casa Magna lines—which are rolled at Plasencia Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua— the Casa Magna Connecticut is being made at Quesada’s Tabacos de Exportación factory in the Dominican Republic.

Manolo Quesada 75th Anniversary

On April 10, Manuel “Manolo” Quesada Jr. turned 75-years-old, so it is no great surprise that the company that bears his name would do a special cigar to commemorate the occasion. Each of the 1,200 boxes will be individually numbered.

  • Wrapper: Ecuador (Corojo)
  • Binder: Nicaragua
  • Filler: Dominican Republic & Nicaragua
  • Manolo Quesada 75th Anniversary (6 3/4 x 48) — $15 (Box of 10, $150)

Quesada Oktoberfest 2022

While the blend and three of the vitolas being offered are the same as last year’s 10th Anniversary Oktoberfest, the newest release features one major difference compared to the 2021 version: the Prost, a 5 1/2 x 56 vitola, will be an exclusive to CIGAR.com’s Elite Advantage program, a loyalty program. Quesada says that 300 packs of 10 cigars will be offered to Elite Advantage platinum members.

  • Wrapper: Mexico (San Andrés)

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
