Gran Habano has gone through a handful of booth designs over the last few years, including a pretty cool Miami-themed one at the 2021 PCA Convention and Trade Show.

This year, the booth is all about highlighting and celebrating the 20th-anniversary release despite the anniversary date being 2021.

The black and gold theme from the anniversary cigar was carried throughout the booth, giving the entire thing a sharp, cohesive presentation. George Rico, Gran Habano’s owner, took some time to talk to me about the special release and another yet-to-be-announced cigar that will be coming later this year.

Gran Habano XX Aniversario Edicion Limitada

The XX Aniversario Edicion Limitada is Gran Habano’s 20th-anniversary cigar. As mentioned, the company actually celebrated its anniversary in 2021, but due to understandable delays surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, it was not ready for release until this year. While initial production is limited to 4,000 boxes of each size, it will be an ongoing release.

Unnamed Project

Another exciting project coming down the line from Gran Habano is a cigar that will be released on Halloween. This will not be a Halloween-themed cigar, instead a birthday cigar for Rico, as his birthday falls on Oct. 31. Interestingly enough, it was also noted that it will be released under a different brand and will not have the Gran Habano moniker. What we do know: it will be produced at the Tabacon Factory, sizes, production and release date. What we don’t know is the blend, which Rico was not ready to disclose despite it being finalized. The only other thing that seemed not to be finalized was the pricing and packaging, with the cigars at the show being unbanded and in a plain white box. Similar to the XX Aniversario, it will be limited to 1,000 boxes of each size initially and then be an ongoing release.

I have been smoking cigars since 2005 and reviewing them as a hobby since 2010. Initially, I started out small with a 50-count humidor and only smoking one or two cigars a month. Not knowing anybody else that smoked cigars, it was only an occasional hobby that I took part in. In March of 2010, I joined Nublive and Cigar Asylum, connecting me with many people who also shared an interest in cigars. Reading what they had to say about brands I had never heard of, I quickly immersed myself in the boutique brands of the industry and it was then that cigars transformed from a hobby into a passion.
