Since acquiring the El Septimo brand in September 2019, Zaya Younan and his team have been focused on steadily building the brand’s portfolio of luxury offerings, both on the cigar side as well as with complementing accessories. This year, they rolled out both, including a new line that is inspired by some of humanity’s greatest works of art, and a new collection of accessories aimed at the traveler who wants a more exotic feel when cutting, lighting, or storing a cigar.

Lots of companies claim they want to make a splash at the PCA Convention & Trade Show, and El Septimo certainly seems to be in the lead for making the biggest one in 2021. The company debuted a new booth that showed off its collections of high-end cigars and accessories quite well, complete with large video panels, a sampling bar, and some intelligent lighting to help capture your attention as you walk the show floor. While the company has been on the market for a few years now, particularly in the U.S., it seemed to be drawing a steady stream of both existing retailers and ones looking to bring the luxury brand into their stores.

El Septimo Sacred Arts Collection

The Sacred Arts Cigar Collection is made up of seven cigars, which represent the biblical story of the seven days of creation. Each line is dedicated to a famous painter and inspired by one of his famous works, and thus named for them. None of the blends are being disclosed, and the company will only say that the blend of each cigar is different, though not how different one cigar is from another. In addition to the seven individual vitolas, the company is releasing a 14-count sampler that contains two of each of the seven blends.

El Septimo Authentic Skins Humidors

The company released a new collection of accessories under the header “Authentic Skins,” referring to the crocodile or ostrich skins in which each accessory is offered.

You will notice that the same three color options are offered for the crocodile and leather version—taupe and blue, orange and brown, and emerald and beige—while the ostrich version is available in a single brown and orange option. For the desktop humidor, there are two sizes offered, both in the three crocodile and leather colorways. As with all humidors, capacity varies based on the size of the cigars you are putting inside it, but 20 or so is a safe bet for the smaller version, while the larger version can seemingly hold closer to 50 cigars.

  • El Septimo Authentic Skins Large Humidor — $672

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
