A new 5 x 50 Robusto vitola of My Father Cigars’ Le Bijou 1922 line has been spotted inside a recently released sampler created for The Cigar Republic in Elmsford, N.Y.
According to Janny García of My Father Cigars, 400 samplers were produced, each containing three My Father Le Bijou 1922 Robusto, three Flor de las Antillas Robustos and three Don Pepín García Original (Blue Label) Robustos.
While the Flor de las Antillas and Don Pepín García Original both have Robusto vitolas in their regular production offerings, the My Father Le Bijou 1922 doesn’t, with the 4 1/2 x 50 Petit Robusto being the closest offering.
The samplers were originally available to customers who attended an event held October 12, 2013 in celebration of Don Pepín García’s birthday. Pete Johnson of Tatuaje was also in attendance, as he was following up on the recent release of the sixth installment in Tatuaje’s Monster series, The JV13. The Cigar Republic, which is the retail arm of Atlantic Cigar, was selected as one of the “Unlucky 13” retailers to receive the bulk of the dress boxes for this year’s release.
Atlantic Cigar Co. has told halfwheel that it plans to use the remaining samplers as part of a promotion with My Father products. As of this post, that promotion does not appear to be in effect. They have also not indicated if the sampler will be available for purchase on its own.
