The Firecrackers are coming.
Later this year, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust will expand its offering of Firecracker-inspired Mi Querida cigars in the form of Triqui Traca. It will initially be offered nationally in 5 x 52 and 6 x 48 sizes, though a 4 x 48 size could be added in 2020.
- Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 552 (5 x 52) — $10.75 (Box of 20, $215)
- Mi Querida Triqui Traca No. 648 (6 x 48) — $11.75 (Box of 20, $235)
The cigars are based on the Mi Querida Firecracker, a 3 1/2 x 50 parejo with a long pigtail that debuted last year as part of Two Guys Smoke Shop’s Firecracker Series. Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust became the seventh manufacturer to make a Firecracker cigar for the New Hampshire-based retailer, which releases the cigars shortly before the July 4 holiday.
In addition to the special-fuse style cap, the Mi Querida Firecracker used a slightly stronger version of the line’s blend: a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan and Dominican ligero fillers. Steve Saka, Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust’s founder, told halfwheel that the Mi Querida Firecracker will return to Two Guys Smoke Shop later this year.
The Triqui Traca cigars will be sold nationally with a red band to delineate between the regular line. Its name is derived from the slang term for firecrackers that are tied together in Nicaragua. It is expected to debut at the 2019 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show, which begins June 29 in Las Vegas.
Update (June 26, 2019) — The cigar was originally referred to as Trique Traca; it has been changed to Triqui Traca.
