For the past couple of years at the annual PCA Convention & Trade Show, La Palina has brought back popular vitolas from its Goldie collection, and it will be doing that again with the fourth release of the Prominente vitola. But the company is also releasing a new vitola, and it’s letting retailers pick the name.

For now, it’s being called the Goldie TBD, and it is a 6 1/4 x 54 toro vitola. The company will present several name options for retailers to select from, and the option getting the most votes will be the winner. The cigars have already been produced at El Titan de Bronze in Miami and are expected to ship about 90 days after the show ends, which would have them arriving in late June or early July to accommodate for the boxes needing to be produced.

The La Goldie Prominenete returns as well, now distinguished as the Prominente Series 4. It remains a 6 1/2 x 48 corona extra vitola, the same size in which it debuted in 2021. It received subsequent releases in 2022 and 2023, with those known as the Series 2 and Series 3, respectively. With the cigars already made and the boxes produced, they should begin shipping in about two months.

Both the Goldie TBD and the Prominente Series 4 are priced at $30 per cigar and $300 for a box of 10 cigars. Production is limited to 500 boxes of each size, and are limited to retailers who attend the trade show and purchase them there.

La Palina is also adding a new, 5 1/4 x 54 robusto vitola to its 125 Años line, which debuted in 2021. It will come in 10-count boxes, with pricing set at $24 per cigar. Production is limited to 1,000 boxes, which are scheduled to begin shipping in the next three to four months, and like the initial release, these are produced at Tabacalera Oliva de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
