After announcing the return of a pair of vitolas for its Goldie line and its new 1948 line, La Palina has announced that it is making some changes to its KB line while also adding a double corona vitola to its Mr. Sam line, which will debut at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show next month.

The company is making a tweak to its KB line’s packaging, shifting all of the sizes from 30-count boxes to 20-count boxes as a way to support brick-and-mortar retailers by making the cost of a box purchase more palatable for consumers. There won’t be any changes to the single-cigar MSRPs or the blend. The packaging change is already starting to go into production, which could have the first boxes on store shelves in early July.

As an incentive to retailers, La Palina will also be offering pairs of customized Nike Air Force Ones that feature the Kill Bill design motif. The shoes are being designed and painted in the La Palina booth during the show by a pair of shoe artists, and while exactly how many pairs are being made have not yet been announced, a representative of the company indicated it would be less than 100 pairs. Retailers who qualify for the incentive will have the ability to select from one of five designs, including the one pictured above.

Additionally, the company is adding a double corona vitola to its Mr. Sam line, which uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper atop a Nicaraugan binder and filler. The company isn’t releasing specifics about the size or its MSRP until the show starts, but did say it is expected to begin shipping not long after the show concludes.

The PCA Convention & Trade Show happens July 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nev.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
