At next month’s PCA Convention & Trade Show, La Palina will once again be digging into the archives of its popular Goldie line for two sizes that will be hitting stores in the coming months.

The company will be releasing the La Palina Goldie Laguito No. 5 Series 2, a re-release of the 5 5/8 x 54 robusto extra that debuted in May 2013 as the second vitola in the Goldie line. The company will produce 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars, with individual cigars priced at $24.

Joining that cigar will be the third installment of the La Goldie Prominente, which is only available to retailers who attend the trade show. The La Palina Goldie Prominente Series 3 is a 6 1/2 x 48 vitola that debuted in 2021 and received a second release at the 2022 PCA Convention & Trade Show. It is also priced at $24 per cigar, but production is limited to just 500 boxes of 10 cigars, the same amount that was produced for the 2022 release.

Both cigars use a blend that features an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The La Palina Goldie line is produced by El Titan de Bronze in Miami’s Calle Ocho neighborhood.

Bill Paley, owner of La Palina, calls the Goldie his cigar to honor the women of the cigar industry. It is named for his grandmother, Goldie Drell Paley, and made at El Titan de Bronze in Miami, which is also owned by a woman, Sandy Cobas.

The cigars are expected to begin shipping to stores in late summer, with a representative of the company optimistic they would begin shipping within 60 days of the trade show’s conclusion.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
