A new, exclusive vitola of Dapper Cigar Co.’s La Madrina blend is being released by Smokingpipes.com next month.

The website—which is the online store of South Carolina-based retailer Low Country Pipe & Cigar—will be selling boxes of the La Madrina Lonsdale, a 6 1/2 x 46 cigar packaged in 10-count boxes. Each cigar has an MSRP of $15.56 while a box of 10 will sell for $140.04, and there were only 250 boxes produced at the Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. (NACSA) factory in Esteli.

As is the case with the rest of the La Madrina Natural line that debuted in 2018, the Lonsdale vitola is made with an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Mexican San Andrés binder and a quartet of fillers: Nicaraguan leaves from the Guadalupe farm in Estelí and the Cofradia Relleno farm in Jalapa; some Dominican habano 92, and Pennsylvania broadleaf.

In an email, Ian Reith, founder of Dapper Cigar Co., told halfwheel that these lonsdales were aged for “roughly 1 1/2 years” compared to the four to six months that the cigar in the line normally received before being released.

According to Smokingpipes, boxes of the Dapper La Madrina Lonsdale will be released during an event at the company’s store on March 1, with any remaining stock will be available on the Smokingpipes.com website on March 9.

I have been smoking cigars for over eight years. A documentary wedding photographer by trade, I spent seven years as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star Telegram. I started the cigar blog SmokingStogie in 2008 after realizing that there was a need for a cigar blog with better photographs and more in-depth information about each release. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars. I am a co-founder of halfwheel and now serve as an editor for halfwheel.
