Following up on the departure of Fabian Barrantes from Indianhead Cigars and La Galera, the company has named Elvis Batista to the role of director sales, effective immediately.

Batista brings several years of experience on the retail side of the cigar industry to the position, having worked in management roles for Neptune Cigars in Miami, Fla., as well as another retailer. He has more than a decade of sales experience, having worked in the hardware tooling industry and hospitality sectors prior to joining Indianhead.

In a statement issued Wednesday by Oscar Butler, director of operations for Indianhead, the company said that “we truly believe Elvis has the passion for cigars and has a special connection with La Galera brand. We look forward to his development in the company and getting him to work directly with our sales team to pursue our mission of bringing excellence in cigars and service to the hand of the consumers, building long lasting relationships with all our partner retailers on the way.”

Batista will be based out of Indianhead’s Miami office.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
