Fabian Barrantes has announced his departure from La Galera/Indianhead Distributors, the company where he was most recently director of marketing and sales. He has also separated from Tabacalera Palma, the company owned by José “Jochy” Blanco, which includes a factory and tobacco growing operation.

“I would like to thank Mr. Blanco for the opportunity to create and design one of the most beautiful brands I’ve been a part of since the very beginning of making La Galera cigars and Indianhead brands,” Barrantes said in a press release. He added that “the company’s best interest is to make changes to its organizational structure.”

Barrantes has several years of cigar industry experience, having spent time with Boutique Blends and Villiger in marketing and design roles before joining La Galera. He has not yet announced his next stop.

“I look forward to the next stage of my career and helping take a company to the next level as I’ve done before. This industry has encouraged me to grow, learn, adapt and, most importantly, stay true to being an amazingly good person in general,” he said.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for MLB.com, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
