A new release from Karen Berger Cigars is, according to the company, “designed to be enjoyed in all four seasons while you and your crew are tailgating outside a ball game or concert and spending time with friends and loved ones.”

Tailgate by Karen Berger is a 6 x 52 toro featuring an Indonesian Sumatra wrapper covering Nicaraguan tobacco that is used for both the binder and filler. The new regular production release is being made at Estelí Cigars S.A. in Nicaragua.

In a press release and text conversation, Bruce Busch, vp of sales for Karen Berger Cigars, stated that the cigar box is designed to look like a classic truck and that the tailgate section of the box will open downwards in order to give access to the cigars inside.

According to the Busch, Tailgate will have an MSRP of $7.75 each—or $108.50 for a box of 14—and the cigars are scheduled to begin shipping to retailers on July 1.

I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade. After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release, I founded my first cigar blog, SmokingStogie, in 2008. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars, and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel, which I co-founded.
