Justin Andrews, the former vice president of Lou Rodriguez Cigars, has found a new home at General Cigar Co., joining the company in what he described as a “creative marketing position” in a Facebook post earlier this week, adding that he will be working alongside Michael Giannini of Foundry Tobacco Company, something he called “a dream come true.”

Andrews told halfwheel that he wasn’t at liberty to discuss further details about what his new position entails, saying that he had to wait for Giannini to give him the green light to discuss further details about his new role. Andrews did say that he had been in Wisconsin doing events on behalf of the company.

An email sent to Giannini seeking comment has not been returned.

Prior to joining General Cigar Co., Andrews spent five years with Lou Rodriguez Cigars, departing the company in August 2014. In addition to his role as vice president, Andrews also assisted in blending a pair of the company’s cigars, including the Lou Rod and Double Nickel.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
