A pair of new Edición Regional releases have started showing up on store shelves in Belgium and Luxembourg, as the Juan López Dragones and La Gloria Cubana Medaille D’Or Especial have been released by Laguito 1492, the distributor in the region.

The Juan López Dragones is a petit robusto that measures 4 1/2 inches (115mm) long and has a 52 ring gauge, a vitola known as the mágicos. While it has been used for a number of Edición Regional releases, it is also used in the regular production Cohiba Magicos and the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure de Luxe lines.

Production is limited to 10,000 boxes of 10 cigars, a total run of 100,000 cigars. Pricing is set at €18.50 ($20.19) in Luxembourg and €19 ($20.73) in Belgium.

The La Gloria Cubana Medaille D’Or Especial is presented in the Laguito No.2 vitola, a long panetela that measures 6 inches (152mm) long with a 38 ring gauge. It’s a vitola shared with the Cohiba Coronas Especiales and the Montecristo Especiales No.2.

It is offered in 25-count boxes, with 4,000 produced for the release, also making for a total of 100,000 cigars. It is priced at €14.20 per cigar in Luxembourg and €14.50 in Belgium.

It is rare to see two Edicion Regional releases come out at the same time, though it appears that Habanos S.A. is playing a bit of catch-up as the La Gloria Cubana has been listed as part of the 2020 group of Ediciónes Regional, while the Juan Lopez is part of the 2021 group.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
