If you’d like a cigar case to pair with The American cigars from J.C. Newman, a new option is heading to stores. In keeping with The American theme, the case is all-American, made in the U.S.A.

The American Black Bison Cigar Case is a three-cigar case that comes with three The American Robusto cigars that were rolled in 2020. Each case has an MSRP of $350 and production is limited to 350 numbered cases

This is the second year in a row that J.C. Newman has partnered with Brizard & Co., a California-based accessory company, to create leather cigar cases for The American line. This year’s case is wrapped in leather from a bison from Ted Turner’s Turner Bison Program in Montana. The inside of the case is lined with Spanish cedar and comes with two Spanish cedar dividers.

The American is the brainchild of Drew Newman, who wanted to create an all-American cigar. Blend-wise, it uses a Florida Sun Grown wrapper from Jeff Borysiewicz’s tobacco farm in Clermont, Fla. The binder is Connecticut broadleaf from Foster Farms in Windsor, Ct., which also grows the Havana-seed tobacco used for the filler. There’s also Pennsylvania tobacco in the filler.

While the all-American blend is novel, it’s not really what makes The American unique. Every other part of the production is also made in America, something no other cigar can likely claim. That includes the bands—made by Action Label in Sanford, Fla.—and boxes—made by Millennium Wood Box in Miami. Even the cigar molds and box hinges are produced in America.

“The American Black Bison cigar case celebrates the centuries-old tradition of American cigar making, said Newman in a press release. “The craftsmanship of the case and the cigars contained inside is exquisite, and I am very proud that this case is all-American.”

In addition to The American Black Bison Cigar Case, J.C. Newman is also shipping the Fall 2023 releases of its Angel Cuesta and The American cigars. This batch of The American cigars features new secondary bands. Both lines are produced at El Reloj in Tampa.

Update (Nov. 6, 2023) — As noted below, Ted Turner is alive.
