Tatuaje is celebrating its 15th anniversary, though you wouldn’t really know it until you looked in a display case. There are no banners, no birthday cake, no birthday wine, but there is a birthday cigar.
Tatuaje’s booth remains the same as it’s been of late, though I believe the traditional end-of-show beer share is a bit reduced this year. I’ll say this: this isn’t the right medium to reflect on Tatuaje’s 15 years, but there are few companies—retailers and manufacturers—that have changed the cigar business this much in 15 years.
It’s Tatuaje’s 15th anniversary and such, there’s a cigar, or four. As Pete Johnson told us on Friday, he’s making more and more products in Miami, a move that he described as harkening back to a simpler time.

Tatuaje Gran Tatuaje
The first of what will likely be a three-part series of Miami-made special cigars from Tatuaje. These are made at El Rey de Los Habanos and the same size as the RC 233. Beyond that—and that it’s probably going to be north of $50 per cigar—Pete Johnson isn’t saying much.
Of note, the other two are likely to use red and blue bands, a method to make out the American flag.
