Back in February, Perdomo announced a slight increase as well as three new lines: Perdomo Small Batch Series, Perdomo Special Craft Series, and Perdomo Factory Tour, the latter of which got its unveiling during the 2015 IPCPR Convention & Trade Show.

The Perdomo Factory Tour is the result of more 400 retailers providing feedback on cigars during their visits to the Perdomo factory. The new line is offered in the three wrapper options and four sizes for a total of 12 facings.

The Sun Grown version uses a wrapper from Nicaragua’s Jalapa Valley over a binder from Nicaragua’s Condega Valley and fillers from the Estelí Valley of Nicaragua, while the Factory Tour Maduro keeps that blend but replaces the top leaf with a maduro wrapper, also from Jalapa.

For a milder offering, the Factory Tour Connecticut uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Jalapa Valley binder and filler from the Estelí Valley.

All of the options in the Perdomo Factory Tour line are being offered in 24-count bundles and boxes, with pricing expected to be between $6 and $7.50 per cigar, before taxes. The company is hoping that retailers will put the new line front and center in their humidors and is offering a display fixture as part of the line’s launch:

Nick Perdomo talked about this latest release and what to expect from it:

Also highlighted in the Perdomo booth was a refreshed look of the company’s Habano line, which comes in Connecticut, Sungrown and Maduro versions. It highlights the barrel-aging process that the line undergoes and utilizes a much more eye-catching design to stand out on increasingly crowded retail shelves.

The previous version of the boxes are on the lower shelf, while the new look is on top. A sales rep for Perdomo told me that the company has been helping retailers re-merchandise their humidors with more on-shelf displays and other visual aids to bring attention to the line, and the rebrand of the Habano line is an extension of that push to keep Perdomo front and center on store shelves.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
