Hiram & Solomon Cigars and Blanco Cigar Co. have announced that the business relationship between the two companies has come to an end.

Over the past several years, Blanco Cigar Co. has handled a number of steps in the journey of a cigar from the factory to store shelves for Hiram & Solomon, including importation, warehousing, order fulfillment, billing and administrative responsibilities. Now, both sides say that Hiram & Solomon has reached a point where it can function more self-sufficiently and independently.

As part of the dissolution of the relationship between the two entities, Hiram & Solomon will be moving the production of its cigars that had previously been at Plasencia Cigars S.A. to other factories, with the company telling halfwheel that it is currently in the process of evaluating a few options. The company cited “major supply issues” with getting cigars delivered, saying that just half of an order expected for delivery between last October and November of last year just recently arrived, and the cigars that were delivered came in bundles, with no boxes delivered.

Hiram & Solomon also currently utilizes PDR Cigars for some of its production. The company has not yet identified when it will select a new factory to handle its production and resolve any supply issues.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
