Drew Estate has announced that this September, it will be releasing the Herrera Esteli Connecticut Broadleaf Tienda Exclusiva Lancero, a former single store exclusive that is now getting a nationwide release.

The cigar uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper, Brazilian mata fina binder, and Nicaraguan filler, rolled into a 7 x 38 vitola. Both the blend and the size have some history; the blend was initially released as an exclusive to members of the Tobacconists’ Association of America (TAA), debuting as a 6 x 52 toro in April 2016.

Then, a 7 x 38 lancero vitola was created as a store exclusive for STOGIES World Class Cigars in Houston, Texas, released in October 2016 as the Herrera Estelí Edición Limitada H-Town Lancero. That was limited to just 500 boxes of 15 cigars, a total run of 7,500 sticks.

In March 2020, the 6 x 52 version returned as another exclusive for the TAA, with just 800 boxes of 12 cigars produced.

As for the Herrera Estelí Tienda Exclusiva line, it debuted in 2014, with two cigars wearing the Tienda Exclusiva secondary band, both of which were single store exclusives. The red primary band has since been used on several other releases, including the Herrera Estetlí TAA release, other single store exclusives, and the Herrera Estelí Miami.

While tienda exclusiva translates as store exclusive, this won’t be a single store release. It will be sold exclusively through Drew Diplomat retailers.

Pricing is set at $186.96 per box of 15 cigars, which works out to about $12.45 per cigar, before taxes.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
