Habanos S.A. Announces Festival del Habano XXIV Humidors for Auction

Habanos S.A. has unveiled the seven humidors that it will auction off at next week’s Festival del Habano XXIV in Havana, Cuba. There will be seven different humidors: one for each of the company’s six global brands and one dedicated to the 55th anniversary of the Trinidad brand.

The auction of the elaborate humidors is an annual part of the Festival del Habano and all of the proceeds go to the Cuban Public Health System. Last year, the auction generated a record €11.22 million—roughly $11.89 million at the time of the auction—in combined sales.

The first humidor is for the H. Upmann and was made by DeART out of European maple, brown eucalyptus and orange wood. According to the catalog, the humidor also incorporates “advanced technology with its electronic lifting system and hidden pistons” and measures 178cm tall, 192cm wide and 74.6cm deep.

The second humidor was created to honor the Hoyo de Monterrey brand by Group Union Humidores, Alejandro García Llapir and Jackmel Llera Cotarelo. Made with cedar, mahogany, okoume and titanium, the humidor was inspired by the design of a double-blade cigar cutter and contains 350 Hoyo de Monterrey cigars.

“Two cigar cutters guard and protect the body of the humidor, which forms the drawer cabinet, equipped with handles of refined and elegant air,” reads the catalog. “The structure of the central piece allows a glimpse of the blade’s edge, which highlights and frames the brand’s iron engraved on glass, allowing a view into the inside of the humidor.”

Celebrating Romeo y Julieta, this humidor was designed and created by Nous Group in collaboration with Cigarte. This metal and wood piece measures 190cm tall, 90cm wide and 55cm deep and includes six drawers as well as Adorini electronic humidifiers.

The Partagás humidor is made with fluted glass, metal and mahogany veneers and was created by Union Humidores. The humidor is designed with a system of adjustable and removable shelves within the display case, as well as external doors which include a sensor that automatically illuminates the interior with LED light. It stands 216.5cm tall, is 161.6cm wide and 65.6cm deep and is said to be filled with 425 Partagás cigars:

Commemorating the Montecristo, this is a two-piece vertical humidor crafted with cedar, ebony and American oak and is decorated with 24-karat gold. There are 12 different drawers that are opened when pushed inward, as well as an Adorini hygrometer and humidifiers.

According to Habanos S.A., the humidor also includes brass elements, a metal grill adorned with the Trinidad logo, and a system of adjustable and removable Spanish cedar shelves to hold 450 Trinidad cigars:

Finally, the Cohiba humidor stands 155cm tall, 112cm wide and 85cm deep and incorporates cedar, solid okoume wood, okoume plywood and steel. The has been designed by Nous Group in collaboration with Cigarte and includes eight different drawers that can hold up to 500 cigars.

According to Habanos S.A., the humidor’s cylindrical base “allows for 360-degree rotation, representing the continuous development and growth of the brand, allowing access to its contents, generating different perspectives, and creating a peculiar attraction from its simplicity.”
