There will be a new Cuban Hoyo de Monterrey size that will be exclusive to duty-free and travel outlets, i.e. stores based in airports and other travel locations.

At this week’s TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes, France—an event dedicated to those retailers—Habanos S.A. formally unveiled the Hoyo de Monterrey Destinos, a new 5 7/10 (145mm) x 49 vitola that will be called sutiles within the formal Cuban vitola naming system. According to Cuban Cigar Website, this is the first Cuban cigar known to use this size, and the Destinos will be sold in “travel humidors” of 20 cigars.

It’s unclear when the cigar will go on sale or how much it will cost.

This is the second new Hoyo de Monterrey announced in the last few weeks. Late last month in Spain, Habanos S.A. showed off the new Epicure No.3, a cigar that will be sold at stores worldwide, except in the U.S., where selling Cuban cigars remains illegal.

Update (Oct. 5, 2023) — Added images from a Habanos S.A. press release.
