The Gurkha Beauty 25th Anniversary is on its way to stores, as the company announced that it began shipping the cigars to stores today.

It’ a 6 1/2 x 60 vitola, and like many Gurkha releases, it gets a dressed-up presentation, as each cigar comes with an oversized,  holographic band, and then gets placed in a frosted tube with a rose gold cap, with 25 tubed cigars offered in a cherry box with winged lid panels that open up to reveal the cigar. Pricing is set at $30 per cigar and $750 per box.

As for the blend, it uses an Ecuadorian corojo wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Nicaragua and Ecuador. The blend is different from the original Gurkha Beauty, which used a Connecticut wrapper.

“It’s been 25 years since Gurkha first introduced the Beauty and it’s still a favorite cigar amongst connoisseurs, so we decided to do a special release on the Beauty honoring the 25-year anniversary,” said Jim Colucci, president and ceo of Gurkha Cigars, via a press release.

The cigars are produced at Tabacalera Las Lavas in the Dominican Republic. The company says it is a regular production line, though the first batch is limited to 1,000 boxes. Plans for subsequent productions have not been announced.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
