After debuting in 2023 as an exclusive release for the Tobacconists’ Association of America, Gurkha’s Colección Especial Nicaragua line is now on its way to all retailers and has added a new size for the release.

The blend is a Nicaraguan puro that the company says “has a lot of earthiness and nuttiness with a beautiful sweet wrapper.” The cigars are produced at American Caribbean Cigars in Nicaragua.

It is offered in two sizes, which come in contrasting black-and-gold boxes:

  • Gurkha Colección Especial Nicaragua Toro (6 x 54) — $14.95 (Box of 10, $149.50)
  • Gurkha Colección Especial Nicaragua Pirámide (6 1/8 x 52)  — $14.95 (Box of 10, $149.50)

The Gurkha Colección Especial Nicaragua is a follow-up to the Gurkha Colección Especial, which debuted in 2022 and uses a Connecticut hybrid wrapper.

Update — Shortly after this story was published, the company disclosed the factory producing the story. That detail had previously been undisclosed.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
