The Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask will ship to retailers in early June.

As we reported in January, Sherry Cask is a follow-up to last year’s Diesel Whiskey Row. As the name implies, this cigar incorporates barrels that previously held sherry cask, more specifically barrels that were previously used for Pedro Ximénez 30-Year-Old Sherry. Those barrels were then used by Rabbit Hole Distilling, the Louisville-based distillery General Cigar Co. partnered with for the original Whiskey Row, which placed its bourbon along with a wheat mash bill in the barrels to create Rabbit Hole’s PX Sherry Finish.

The barrels were then sent to Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí, where a Brazilian arapiraca leaf was aged in the barrels. That tobacco is used as the binder, underneath a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper and on top of Nicaraguan habano fillers.

The cigar is offered in three sizes.

  • Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask Robusto (5 x 52) — $8.49 (Boxes of 20, $169.80)
  • Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask Toro (6 x 50) — $8.99 (Boxes of 20, $179.80)
  • Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask Gigante (6 x 58) — $9.49 (Boxes of 20, $189.80)

“For our second collaboration with Diesel, we selected our rich and aromatic Pedro Ximénez sherry casks for AJ to use in the tobacco aging process because we knew they would lend a stunning complexity to the blend,” said Kaveh Zamanian, founder of Rabbit Hole, in a press release. “‘Sherry Cask’ speaks to the power of our partnership with Diesel and our collective focus on combining heritage technique and refined innovation to heighten the experience of fine cigars and spirits.”

General Cigar Co. says the Sherry Cask will begin shipping June 3.
