Diesel Whiskey Row Sherry Cask Planned

There will be a follow-up to the Diesel Whiskey Row.

Last year, General Cigar Co. released Diesel Whiskey Row, which used tobacco aged in barrels that previously held bourbon from Rabbit Hole Distillery of Louisville, Ky. Now the company plans Whiskey Row Sherry Cask, which—as the name implies—is using tobacco aged in sherry casks.

Justin Andrews, the brand manager for Diesel, told halfwheel that the blend will use barrels that were previously used for Pedro Ximénez 30-Year-Old Sherry. Those barrels were then used by Rabbit Hole, which placed its bourbon along with a wheat mash bill in the barrels to create Rabbit Hole’s PX Sherry Finish.

Now those barrels are at Tabacalera AJ Fernandez Cigars de Nicaragua S.A., where the binders of the Whiskey Row Sherry Cask are aging.

Andrews declined to talk further details about the cigar but confirmed it’s planned for release later this year.
