Davidoff of Geneva USA has announced the winners of its annual Golden Band Awards.

The awards—which debuted in 2012—are a way for Davidoff to recognize its top-performing retailers based on a number of different metrics. Winners of the award not only receive a dinner in their honor but also get a trophy and the rights to sell the Davidoff Golden Band cigar for the next year.

“We are honored by the opportunity to once again bring together the best of the best from our family of retailers and partners to celebrate their achievements,” said Dylan Austin, president of Davidoff of Geneva North America, in a press release. “There are many stories of successes to share, and during this very special evening, we will recognize the most extraordinary examples of excellence on one stage.”

The list of winners for the U.S. market is:

  • Best Performance Single Location — The Tobacco Shop (Ridgewood, N.J.)
  • Best Performance Multiple Locations — Club Humidor (San Antonio, Texas)
  • Best Growth Single Location — Tobacco Leaf (Jessup, Md.)
  • Best Growth Multiple Locations — Tinder Box (Charlotte, N.C.)
  • U.S. Appointed Merchant of the Year — Robusto’s Cigar Bar & Bistro (Sterling Heights, Mich.)

According to Davidoff, the 2023 Golden Award Winners will be honored during an event scheduled to take place on April 9, 2024, in Miami.

I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade. After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release, I founded my first cigar blog, SmokingStogie, in 2008. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars, and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel, which I co-founded.
