Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Limited Edition Goes on Sale

During 2023, Davidoff has looked back into its massive archives and brought back three previously-discontinued, regular production cigars. The final one for this year is now available.

It’s the Davidoff Aniversario No. 1 Limited Edition, a massive 8 2/3 x 48 double corona that was originally created for the 80th birthday of Zino Davidoff. Blend-wise, the cigar uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper, an Ecuadorian binder and three different Dominican fillers: piloto viso, San Vicente viso and San Vicente mejorado viso.

The cigars are sold in boxes of 10, with nine cigars packaged in cellophane and one cigar coming in a large wooden tubo, a nod to how the cigar was packaged in the past. In the U.S., the MSRP is set at $64 per cigar and the release is limited to 6,500 boxes of 10 cigars though the release will also be sold internationally.

Zino Davidoff created the Davidoff Aniversario 80th as a way to celebrate his 80th birthday. It is said that he wanted a cigar that he could light up while he was still 79 and smoke well into the first hours of his 80s. At that time, Davidoffs were still rolled in Cuba, though the cigar remained in production after the Swiss brand moved its production to the Dominican Republic. The cigar, then part of the Aniversario line, was discontinued in 2016.

This is the third of four planned revivals as part of the Limited Edition Collection, though the final one for 2023. Earlier this year, the company released the Davidoff Classic No. 1 and Davidoff Millennium Blend Lancero as limited editions.
