Later this week, retailers will have the opportunity to purchase regional cigars from Crowned Heads regardless of where they are based.
For the second consecutive year, the company will host a one-day event called Lawless Day. During that period, retailers around the country will have the opportunity to purchase Buckeye Land, Tennessee Waltz and Yellow Rose. All three cigars are normally sold as regional exclusives to specific states.
For most retailers, this will be the first time they will be able to purchase Buckeye Land, the company’s new Ohio exclusive, which debuted only last week.
As for the cigar, it uses a Mexican San Andrés wrapper, a Connecticut broadleaf binder and fillers from Nicaragua and Pennsylvania. As with the rest of the Crowned Heads exclusives, it’s being made in a single size, this time a 6 x 48 parejo priced at $9.60.
The series started in 2014 with Tennessee Waltz , a 5 1/2 x 52 robusto extra, that was exclusive to the company’s home state of Tennessee. It uses a Connecticut broadleaf wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The cigar is priced at $9 and uses an orange ribbon.
A year later came Yellow Rose, a 6 1/4 x 54 box-pressed torpedo, that uses the same blend. It is sold in boxes of 20 with pricing set at $9.50. Yellow Rose has a yellow ribbon across the foot and is exclusive to Texas.
There is one regional exclusive that is not part of Lawless Day: the Paniolo Especiale, made for Hawaii. Jon Huber told halfwheel that because Paniolo Especiale is a limited release, whereas the others are made on an ongoing basis, it’s not included for Lawless Day.
The concept was inspired by the movie The Purge, a fictional story where all crime is allowed for a 12-hour period.
Huber said Buckeye Land orders placed during Lawless Day will be shipping on Nov. 12.
