Fans of Cuban mini cigars will soon have a new option from one of the most recognized brands in the world.

During an event on Dec. 5 in Limassol, Cyprus, Habanos S.A. debuted the Cohiba Wide Short, a 3 9/10 x 31.5 cigarillo packaged in six-count cardboard boxes. Like the smaller Cohiba Short—which was released in 2016 and measures 3 1/4 x 26—the Wide Short is a machine-made cigar.

This was the same event where two other cigars debuted. The first cigar was the El Rey del Mundo Royal Series, a 6 1/8 x 50 vitola that is an exclusive release being sold by La Casa del Habano (LCDH) stores around the world, while the second was the Por Larrañaga Fénix Edición Regional Phoenicia, a 7 1/4 x 50 Churchill extra vitola known as a 109 that was created to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the partnership between Habanos S.A. and Phoenicia T.A.A. Cyprus Ltd.

In a text, Walid Saleh, ceo of Phoenicia T.A.A. Cyprus Ltd., told halfwheel that the Cohiba Wide Short is scheduled to be available for sale in mid-January and that the cigar will be “double” the price of the Cohiba Short.

I have worn many hats in my life up to this point: I started out as a photojournalist for the Dallas Morning News and the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, then transitioned to photographing weddings—both internationally and in the U.S.—for more than a decade. After realizing that there was a need for a cigar website containing better photographs and more in-depth information about each release, I founded my first cigar blog, SmokingStogie, in 2008. SmokingStogie quickly became one of the more influential cigar blogs on the internet, known for reviewing preproduction, prerelease, rare, extremely hard-to-find and expensive cigars, and it was one of the predecessors to halfwheel, which I co-founded.
