Just weeks after California’s flavored tobacco ban went into effect, it’s neighbor to the north will consider a ban of its own during the upcoming legislative session.

If passed, New Mexico would become the third state with a ban on flavored tobacco sales.

It’s unclear whether Gov. Hochul also wants to increase the taxes on cigars.

Gov. Mike DeWine, a Republican, once again called for a statewide ban on the sale of flavored vaping products.

Bangor is the latest city in Maine to ban the sale of flavored tobacco products.

Maine has had four cities ban the sale of flavored tobacco products this year; the state could enact its own ban in 2023.

With Tuesday’s vote, three of Maine’s four most populated cities have passed flavored tobacco sales bans this year.

Flavored cigars received an exemption, but they are likely to become quite expensive.

It will become illegal to sell flavored tobacco in Oregon’s most populated county as of Jan. 1, 2024.
