Battleground Cigars’ OPK Fire line has a new size, a 5 x 58 perfecto that the company has dubbed Flame.

It becomes the fifth size in the line, all of which are regular production and box-pressed:

  • Battleground Cigars OPK Fire Blaze (6 1/2 x 54) — $12 (Box of 20, $240)
  • Battleground Cigars OPK Fire Inferno (6 1/2 x 54) — $11.60 (Box of 20, $232)
  • Battleground Cigars OPK Fire Ninfa (5 1/2 x 48) — $10.80 (Box of 20, $216)
  • Battleground Cigars OPK Fire Ignito (5 x 50) — $11.20 (Box of 20, $224)
  • Battleground Cigars OPK Fire Flame (5 x 58) — $12.40 (Box of 20, $248)

The OPK Fire line uses an Ecuadorian habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan criollo binder, and fillers from Nicaragua. The company calls it medium-to-full body in both body and strength while being full-flavored with key notes of orange peel, spice, pepper, and leather. The company does not disclose where the line is produced, only that they are produced in small batches and released on a somewhat-seasonal basis. The next batch is set to be released in Fall 2024.

OPK Fire debuted in 2014 but went on hiatus for several years until Battleground Cigars brought it back at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
