At the upcoming PCA Convention & Trade Show, Battleground Cigar Co. will be bringing back the OPK Fire, which debuted in 2014 but has been unavailable in recent years.

The OPK Fire blend features an Ecuadoran habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan criollo binder, and fillers from Nicaragua, a combination that the company calls medium to full in both body and strength, while being full-flavored with orange peel, spice and pepper.

The OPK Fire will return in three box-pressed sizes, with the Blaze a torpedo vitola:

  • OPK Fire Ninfa (5 x 42) — $9.40 (Box of 20, $188)
  • OPK Fire Ignito (5 x 56) — $9.90 (Box of 20, $198)
  • OPK Fire Blaze (6 x 52) — $10.40 (Box of 20, $208)

In addition to the 20-count boxes, the company also offers the cigars in 20-count bundles. Victoria Michalek of Battleground Cigars told halfwheel that more sizes are in the works for the line.

The company does not yet have a specific shipping date set for the OPK Fire other than it is expected to begin shipping in the fall.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
