Arango Cigar Co. has begun selling a new vitola in its Perfecto Garcia line, one that is much larger than the cigars that made the brand famous.

The Perfecto Garcia Big Shoulders is a 6 x 60 gordo that is offered with a natural wrapper option using an Ecuadorian wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic, Honduras and Nicaragua. The line is produced at Nicaragua American Cigars S.A. (NACSA) in Estelí.

For Big Shoulders, the MSRP is set at $8 per cigar.

While the line is also offered in Maduro and Extra Claro versions, the new size is not being added to those lines as of yet.

Perfecto Garcia, the man, established Perfecto Garcia & Brothers in 1905. The Spaniard traveled to Cuba before eventually ending up in Chicago and later Tampa. The company’s brands included the eponymous Perfecto Garcia brand as well as Perla del Mar, now owned by J.C. Newman. After the Cuban embargo, the family sold the cigar company, though its factory on 16th Street is still standing in Tampa’s Ybor neighborhood.

In 1999, the brand was brought back and today is sold by Arango Cigar Co., which is based in the Chicago suburb of Northbrook.

Update (Feb. 19, 2024) — Arango Cigar Co. clarified its press release to indicate that the Big Shoulders was not being added to the Perfecto Garcia Maduro and Perfecto Garcia Extra Claro lines as originally announced.
