Months earlier than originally announced, The American Limited Edition Leather Case 2024 is shipping to stores.
Today, J.C. Newman announced that it had begun shipping The American Limited Edition Leather Case 2024, the third collaboration between Brizard & Co. and Newman’s The American brand. Like last year’s case, it is a three-cigar case that uses bison leather from Ted Turner’s Turner Bison Program in Montana. However, the 2024 edition uses bison leather for the bottom part and American walnut for the top part. Inside, the case is lined with Spanish cedar and includes two adjustable dividers.
The MSRP is set at $300 per case, which includes three The American cigars that have been aged for five years, and production is limited to 250 numbered cases. When the cases were announced, they were said to include cigars that were only three-years-old, but the company announced today that these are from the original 2018 batch of cigars with wrappers from the 2016 crop of FSG.
The American is the brainchild of Drew Newman, who wanted to create an all-American cigar. Blend-wise, it uses a Florida Sun Grown wrapper from Jeff Borysiewicz’s tobacco farm in Clermont, Fla. The binder is broadleaf from Foster Farms in Windsor, Conn., which also grows the Havana-seed tobacco used for the filler. There’s also Pennsylvania tobacco in the filler. In keeping with that theme, the cigar case is made by Brizard in Los Angeles using leather and wood from America.
When the case was announced in March, the company said it planned on shipping the cases in November.
