There’s a new La Colmena that will only be available in China.

According to a report from Cigar Aficionadothe La Colmena ‘8’ is a new 5 1/2 x 52 robusto extra that features a pigtail cap and a covered foot. It uses the standard La Colmena blend: an Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed shade-grown wrapper over an Ecuadorian binder and fillers from the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. La Colmena is made at El Titan de Bronze in Miami.

Pricing is said to be $30 per cigar, it will be sold in eight-count boxes.

An email sent to Warped seeking confirmation of the report was not returned.

Eight is considered a lucky number in China because the number eight—pronounced ba—sounds close to fa, a word used to describe prosperity. Many products, including cigars from other companies, that are targeted at Chinese consumers use the number eight, as well as red and gold colors, because of the perceived good fortune.
