Villiger’s La Vencedora Goes Gordo

A new gordo vitola is being added to Villiger’s La Vencedora line at this week’s IPCPR Convention & Trade Show and will soon be on retail shelves.

The cigar measures the now-standard 6 x 60 vitola and uses the same full-bodied blend as the rest of the line, meaning a Nicaraguan habano oscuro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and filler. The cigars are made at Fabrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua S.A. in Estelí.

It will come priced at $10.50 and will be the fourth size in the line, which debuted in February:

  • La Vencedora Robusto (5 x 50) — $9 (Box of 20, $180)
  • La Vencedora Toro (6 x 50) — $9.50 (Box of 20, $190)
  • La Vencedora Churchill (7 x 50) — $10 (Box of 20, $200)
  • La Vencedora Gordo (6 x 60) — $10.50 (Box of 25, $262.50)*

About the author

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury and the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for, plus I'm a voice over artist. I previously covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
