Viaje has announced plans to re-release—and somewhat remake—its 15th Anniversary cigars, with the second swing at the celebratory smokes slated for mid-September.
The three blends—Silver, Gold and Black—are all coming back, now all in a 6 x 54 perfecto vitola, and all priced at $19.99 per cigar. The cigars will also get new packaging, being presented in 24-count ceramic jars, with just 315 jars being produced per blend. Pricing is set at $479.76 per jar.
As for the blends, all of them use a Nicaraguan criollo 98 wrapper from the country’s Jalapa region, while the binder and filler of each blend are Nicaraguan with tobaccos grown by AGANORSA Leaf. However, the company says that each blend is distinct, though has so far declined to disclose how so or how noticeable the differences are between the three, as well as what is different about the blends from the first release.
The new blends are all a bit more expensive than the ones released in 2022, as the Silver and Gold blends were priced at $15.60 per cigar, while the Black has an MSRP of $17.20 per cigar. The 2023 version is also a different size than the original, which was offered in a 6 1/4 x 52 torpedo vitola and which came in boxes of 25 cigars.
Like the original version, the remade cigars are being produced by AGANORSA Leaf at its factory in Estelí, Nicaragua.
Shipping is slated to begin on September 18, according to a report by Cigar Aficionado.
Shortly after this article was published, a representative from Viaje confirmed the report.
Update (Sept. 19, 2023) — The company is referring to these cigars as the 15th Anniversary Pt. II. Pricing for the three cigars has been confirmed, and it appears that the company has also shipped a 15th Anniversary Black Limited Edition that is also being presented in a 6 x 54 perfecto vitola and offered in a jar of 24 cigars. There is no MSRP for this release, yet by using industry-standard markups, it would appear to be approximately $29 per cigar.
