Viaje has announced a pair of new cigars that it is adding to its White Label Project, or WLP Series, a diverse collection of dozens of different cigars that don’t share much in common other than certain packaging elements.

The company has not released much in the way of details about the cigars, but the images posted to social media offer some. Both cigars are 6 x 56 toro gordos, with Blunderbuss using a corojo 99 wrapper while Dark Matter uses a Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper. Production is limited to 200 boxes of each cigar, though the company has not indicated how many cigars are in each box, but numerous other WLP releases have come in boxes of 25 cigars.

According to social media posts, the cigars were rolled over a year ago, as the box labels indicate they were produced in May 2023. The company said that due to an already packed schedule of releases, the cigars had to wait until an opening became available before they could be shipped to stores.

The company has not yet indicated when the cigars will begin shipping, but it generally posts about new cigars about a week before they go to stores.

An e-mail to Viaje seeking additional information about the cigars has not been returned.

Update (Aug. 23, 2024) — halfwheel has learned the pricing for the Dark Matter is $11.36 per cigar and $284 for a box of 25 cigars, while the Blunderbuss is priced at $10.96 per cigar and $274 for a box of 25 cigars.

I strive to capture the essence of a cigar and the people behind them in my work – every cigar you light up is the culmination of the work of countless people and often represents generations of struggle and stories. For me, it’s about so much more than the cigar – it’s about the story behind it, the experience of enjoying the work of artisans and the way that a good cigar can bring people together. In addition to my work with halfwheel, I’m the public address announcer for the Colorado Rockies and Arizona Diamondbacks during spring training, as well as for the Salt River Rafters of the Arizona Fall League, the WNBA's Phoenix Mercury, the G-League's Valley Suns, and previously the Arizona Rattlers of the Indoor Football League. I also work in a number of roles for Major League Baseball, plus I'm a voice over artist. Prior to joining halfwheel, I covered the Phoenix and national cigar scene for Examiner.com, and was an editor for Cigar Snob magazine.
