This month, the VegaFina Fortaleza 2 Doble Capote will begin arriving at stores in international markets. As its name implies, the new limited edition is highlighted by two binders; capote is the Spanish word for binder.

Those binders, one from the Dominican Republic and one from Nicaragua, are each aged for four years. Covering them is an Ecuadorian wrapper, while the internal part of the blend uses Dominican tobaccos for the fillers.

The VegaFina Fortaleza 2 Doble Capote is offered in a 5 7/8 x 54 box-pressed toro extra size. Notably, this is the first box-pressed VegaFina cigar ever. The company says that box-pressed cigars aren’t common outside of the U.S. and VegaFina is a brand that is targeted at non-American markets. Each cigar was pressed for 30-60 minutes in molds at the Tabacalera de García factory in La Romana, Dominican Republic.

There are 3.960 boxes of 12 cigars produced for this release.

Pricing will vary depending on the country and its local taxes. In Spain, it will retail for €6.60 ($6.56), in Germany €9.90 ($9.85) and in Switzerland, 11.90 CHF ($12.36).

Like most VegaFinas, it will not be sold in the U.S.

Update (Sept. 6, 2022) — Added info about the production numbers.
