Thanks to the uniqueness of the 2012 Year of the Dragon, there’s an argument that the 2023 Year of the Rabbit could be considered the 12th and final release to round out the series before looping back around. The Zodiac Series is one of the more anticipated releases from Davidoff each year, and each year we’ve reviewed them, they usually score fairly well. Having said that, it’s only the fourth year that one of the Zodiac Series has appeared on our Top 25 list, with the others mostly missing the cut-off by only a point or two.

The 2023 Year of the Rabbit might not be the most unique looking of the Zodiac Series—I think that belongs to the 2022 Year of the Tiger—it is only the second perfecto in the series. Since the perfecto is a more difficult shape to roll than a parejo, I tend to associate it with more limited editions or, in some way, special cigars. Because of that, I found it interesting that the Year of the Rabbit Flagship Exclusive was a parejo while the regular Year of the Rabbit was a perfecto shape.

Speaking of the Flagship Exclusive, both of the Year of the Rabbit releases received a spot on our list. While the regular release didn’t place as highly as the more, it’s still a very good cigar. The retrohale is the real highlight, showcasing the blend’s mix of balanced yet complex flavors and making it obvious that it belongs here. One of us experienced a few minor burn issues that hindered the overall score, but overall, we found the Davidoff Limited Edition 2023 Year of the Rabbit to be an enjoyable cigar. — Brian Burt.
