Connecticut-wrapped blends seem to be a major component of the halfwheel Top 25 list every year, but this new line from Powstanie is the first time the company has released a blend with a Connecticut wrapper.

After the Powstanie brand debuted in 2015 with two different lines, the company had no new regular production releases until mid-2023, when this line shipped to retailers. Like the rest of Powstanie’s creations so far, the four-vitola line is made at Fábrica de Tabacos Nica Sueño S.A. in Nicaragua, the factory perhaps best known for making RoMa Craft Tobac’s cigars.

Reviewers commented on the surprising amount of pepper in the cigar’s profile—especially in the first half—as well as the balanced but every-changing profile, with Charlie Minato writing that it reminded him “…of the (Davidoff) Oro Blanco’s ability to rearrange the flavors at nearly every puff.” However, one reviewer’s cigar was as hard as a rock when squeezed, and all four reviewers had to touch up the burn lines on their cigars at least once.

In the end, the Powstanie Connecticut Perfecto is a great example in patience. — Brooks Whittington
