My Father Cigars is no stranger to celebrating anniversaries, with an impressive collection of limited edition cigars that do just that. In 2022, the company celebrated the 10th anniversary of the launch of its Flor de las Antillas line, which garnered its share of awards in the decade since its launch. Named for the García family’s homeland of Cuba, the cigar’s original blend featured an all-Nicaraguan blend; 10 years later the anniversary cigar used a modified blend from the original. While the varietals were the same, the most notable change was the use of a higher priming of wrapper to give the cigar a stronger flavor profile as well as a darker shade for that outermost leaf.

While the anniversary was in 2022, the cigars didn’t arrive until January 2023, and they opened up the new year on a flavorful note. As with many cigars on this list, the Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2022 wastes little time delivering mouth-watering flavor. It skews to the more robust side with espresso and some herbal notes, adding complexity and balance with black pepper and dark berry sweetness on retrohales.

Panelists found the profile to be clean, smooth, and refined, with flavors that were bright and easily identifiable yet not so individualistic as to detract from their cohesiveness. Several reviewers also praised the cigar’s construction and how easy it was to smoke.

Anniversary cigars like the Flor de las Antillas 10th Anniversary Limited Edition 2022 should be a cut above the regular production, and that’s precisely what we found the case to be here, with My Father Cigars showing once again that they are more than able to make a stellar cigar. — Patrick Lagreid.
