On Thanksgiving 2016, Omar de Frias released the first line to be produced from his home country. While de Frias is Dominican, all of his Fratello cigars had previously been made at Joya de Nicaragua in Estelí.
For Oro, de Frias used an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper, a Cameroon binder and Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers. The end result impressed me a lot, even if removing the bands was a bit tricky. I thought this was easily the best Fratello to date, at least until the release of Navetta, which finished a spot ahead on this list. Whatever the case, the last 14 months have been good for Fratello. — Charlie Minato.
