Yesterday morning, SAG Imports informed retailers they would be releasing three new sizes of the popular Casa Magna Domus Magnus Limitada.
“We had enough to make about 30,000 new cigars,” said Terrence Reilly of SAG Imports, the distribution arm of the Quesada family who owns the Casa Magna brand, “so we decided to do three other sizes.”
Reilly first publicly acknowledged plans for the extensions on Smoke Inn’s Kiss My Ash Radio back in early October last year.
The three new sizes are:
- Casa Magna Domus Magnus Limitada Bellatores — 6 3/4 x 54 — $9.95 (Boxes of 10, $99.50)
- Casa Magna Domus Magnus Limitada Centuriones — 4 3/4 x 50 — $7.95 (Boxes of 10, $79.50)
- Casa Magna Domus Magnus Limitada Praetores — 7 x 56 — $10.95 (Boxes of 10, $109.50)
Last year, SAG Imports released the Optimus (5 3/4 x 52) and Maxiums (6 1/2 x 55) sizes in July. Despite only offering 5,000 boxes of each vitola, SAG Imports is still receiving boxes from Plasencia Cigars S.A. and still shipping boxes to retailers.
Due to tobacco constraints, the three new sizes will be limited to just 1,000 boxes of 10 cigars for each vitola.
The three new sizes were originally planned for a January release, but numerous factors pushed back the release of Bellatores, Centuriones and Praetores.
“The idea was to release them around the time the original two sizes started to disappear from stores,” Reilly told halfwheel.
Reilly said he hopes to sell out of the remainder of the original boxes before the three new sizes arrive, but ultimately admitted the new cigars will only be released once they are ready.
